"The Days and Nights of Summer"

6/12/2014

God gave us a great blessing when He created the seasons. I love each season of the year. My favorite season of the year is the one I am presently experiencing.

Summer brings us so many special moments. It is a time to spend time with family and friends. One of my favorite experiences is sitting on our back porch with my family reflecting upon the experiences of the day and taking a peek at the days before us. Let me encourage you to use these days to reconnect with your family. Celebrate being in the presence of your family and give thanks to God for this special gift he has given you. This summer do something special with and for each family member.

Summer brings us opportunities to experience growth in our Christian pilgrimage. I am so blessed to be Pastor of Providence Baptist Church. I always look forward to the Christian growth opportunities that are provided during Summer. A group of our people just returned from a life transforming mission tour to New Orleans. We went to minister and came back a people who have a greater love for God and all the people for whom Christ died. We now understand more of what it means to be the people of God on mission.

Vacation Bible School is always a special time at Providence.  We gather with old friends and meet new ones as we come together for a time of fun and fellowship as we provide our children an opportunity to explore the world of the Bible.

In a few weeks we will celebrate the Independence we have as a nation.  This is always a very special day at Providence.  Our people recognize the tremendous sacrifices that have been made that we might truly be 'the land of the free and the home of the brave.'

August of 2014 is going to be a special month for our Providence Family.  The theme of the month is, "WE ARE ALL IN IT TOGETHER."   It is going to be a month of focusing on our youth, our heritage, Providence as a place of grace and our community. You will continue to receive more information concerning "WE ARE ALL IN IT TOGETHER."

We are blessed to experience the days and nights of summer. The sound of a bird's song, the laughter of a child chasing lightning bugs, the thrill of leaving for vacation, the safe return of our friends and family members from a trip, a life that has been transformed, are all indescribable expressions of God's amazing grace.
