Grace Experienced

3/30/2019

"GRACE EXPERIENCED"

As I pen these words on Saturday, March 30, 2019, I recall two weeks ago that the Tyre family was so excited as the Tacoma made it's way to I-85 with the destination being St. George Island, Florida.  We were on our way to a much needed time of rest, reflection and family time.  The journey was filled with conversation, music from our Grandson, Mihai's play list coming forth from his I Pod.  The music he played was geared to the generation of his Doc and Niki (Grandfather and Grandmother) rather than Mihai and his Mom.  The cab of the Tacoma was filled with the sounds of Johnny Cash, June Carter, The Carpenters, Marty Robbins, Willie Nelson.

We crossed the bridge to St. George and our hearts were thrilled with joy seeing the beloved island that has been our resting place for over twenty years.  We checked in and made our way to the Condo that would be our dwelling place.  Then something happened that interrupted our plans.

As I made my way down the stairs from opening the doors to the Condo, I missed a step and did not stop until my hard head hit the concrete below.   All of a sudden the screams of my dear family filled the air.   A red liquid began to pour from a wound above my eye. (the color was red)  Suddenly I was surrounded by a great group of First Responders.  The event continued to unfold.  I was transported to a local hospital.  A CT scan was taken of my head and I received the good news, "there was no brain bleed."  After several hours in the emergency room, I returned to the condo with my family.  I spent the next seven days placing an ice pack on my forehead for twenty minutes every hour.   The story goes on.  After two weeks, the scars are still there to remind me of God's grace shared by our Lord through His people.
  • I heard the language of grace through the words and other expressions of concern from my dear family.
  • I felt the touch of grace through the care of a compassionate physician and nursing staff at the local hospital.
  • Each day I expressed gratitude for God's grace that was surely revealed to me in so many ways.  I found great comfort in the language of grace shared by God through Jesus Christ.
  • Over and over I heard the words that were conceived in the mind of God, "For I am persuaded that nothing can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."  I know that to be true for I have experienced His presence, His comfort, His healing as expressions of His grace.  I am thrilled to be able to return to Providence Baptist Church where I will be surrounded by a people who speak and live the language of grace.tings
