THANKSGIVING 2015 

I AM THANKFUL 
  For another Birthday (mine). 
  For another Wedding Anniversary (Fifty-five years with Miss Margaret) 
  For celebrating ten wonderful years as Pastor of Providence Baptist, Rico. 

I AM THANKFUL 
   For a child whose energy is joy.
   For a child who knows and calls my name.
   For a child who has a place he or she calls home. 

I AM THANKFUL 
    For the greeting of a sunrise. 
    For the gift of each day. 
    For the peace a sunset brings. 

I AM THANKFUL 
    For families who love one another.
    For friends who believe the very best about one another. 
    For homes filled with faith, hope and love. 

I AM THANKFUL 
    For Providence Baptist Church, Rico. 
    For Christians who take Jesus seriously.
    For Christians who take church membership seriously. 

 I AM THANKFUL 
     For music that inspires. 
     For books that inform. 
     For quiet times that bring rest and reflection. 

 I AM THANKFUL 
     For grits without lumps. 
     For people who are not grumpy for long periods of time. 
     For health benefits of dark chocolate and coffee. 

I AM THANKFUL 
      For a brother who calls frequently. 
      For a sister who says "I love you" before she hangs up the phone. 
      For friends who call for no reason than to say, "Just thinking about you today." 

I   AM THANKFUL
       For a wife whose heart of love is endearing and enduring. 
       For a daughter whose brilliant mind provides me with important insights into life. 
       For a grandson whose kind spirit inspires me to inspire him to be all he can be.
     
I AM THANKFUL 
        For all the blessings for which I am thankful.
        For the blessings I have received but not shared in this writing. 
        For the greatest of all blessings, JESUS CHRIST THE HOPE OF THE WORLD.

    Dr. Gene ("Doc")Tyre, Pastor
    Dr. Gene Tyre came to the pastorate of Providence Baptist Church in October of 2005.  Dr. Tyre is native of Wayne County Georgia.  He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Mercer University and his Master’s and Doctor of Ministry Degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky  He has participated in special studies at Central State Hospital and Yale University.   For twenty-three years he was Pastor of First Baptist Church, Newnan, Georgia.

    Dr. Tyre has also been active in the Georgia Baptist Convention, having served as Chairman of the Executive Committee, Chairman of the Administration Committee, Chairman of the Georgia Baptist Hospital Board, and Vice President of the Convention.  He has served as a member of the Mercer University Board of Trustees.  In 1993 he was named "Coweta County Citizen of the Year." He is on the Board of the Samaritan Clinic in Newnan. He has participated in preaching missions to Liberia, Kenya, South America, and Honduras.

    Dr. Tyre's philosophy of ministry is to "Preach the Gospel" and "Love the People." His wife, Margaret, has served as the President of the Ministers' Wives of Georgia. The Tyres have a daughter, Jenny and a grandson, Mihai.
