A Place of Grace

3/8/2013

As I write these words, I am counting the blessings I experience as Pastor of
Providence Baptist Church. I am blessed to experience the presence of God in the midst of a people who take Jesus seriously and whose desire is to follow Him in word and deed.  Each time I am in the presence of Providence People I am truly blessed. Recently I have been asked the question,“What makes Providence such a special place?”

Providence is all about Jesus and not about us.
Providence is indeed a place of grace.
Providence is a place where we experience and express faith, hope and love.
Providence is a place where heritage is celebrated and hope is affirmed.
Providence is a place where we share the blessings we receive with others.
Providence is a place where we God’s people communicate, “what happens
to you makes a difference to me.”

Each day we find ourselves on a very special spiritual journey.  We are anticipating arriving at the moment when we will proclaim, “HE IS NOT HERE, HE IS RISEN.”  Providence people are now in the process of a special preparation for the time of a great Easter celebration. This is a journey of taking inventory of our lives and asking God to make us disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ.  What does this involve?

Spending  quality time in Bible study and prayer.
Remembering that we are blessed in order to share our blessings with others.
Reaching out to the least of these in Jesus name.
Growing in our understanding that following Jesus involves walking in His  steps.
Celebrating the presence of God through public and private worship.
Being alert to where God is working in our community and joining Him in the
journey. In the words of The Apostle Paul,  "Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.
Inviting others to join us in the journey.

We invite you to share in our journey. Providence is “a place of Grace” and there is a place just for you.

Blessings,
Gene Tyre, Pastor
