"A Life Changing Journey"

3/2/2015

Lent is a season of introspection and self-denial as we take a forty day journey to the Day of Resurrection. This is one of the most important journeys upon which we will ever embark. I would hope that this would be an inspirational  and transformational journey. Through the years I have heard persons share life changing experiences as they prepare for Resurrection morning.

Please give me the privilege of sharing some important matters that I believe will make the Lenten journey meaningful.  First of all, spend time alone with God. These are days when we miss one section of a revolving door and our schedule is thrown off for several days. It is vital for our spiritual growth and development that we seek that quiet place experiencing the presence of God.  Experiencing God brings renewal to our soul. I would encourage praying the Psalms.  You will find great strength, hope and encouragement from these treasures.

Have you ever spent time journaling?  This is a great way to experience spiritual introspection. Your journey will be enriched as you record your thoughts that come from observing life. Also, pen inspirational quotations that come from your reading.

Be faithful to your church.  A friend of mine wrote a song with the theme of church loyalty.  The song communicated that we will attend church until we have a better offer.  As we prepare for Resurrection Day, blessings come as we worship God and have fellowship with other Christians. God is pleased when His people gather in His name and worship Him in spirit and in truth.    Church attendance has fallen far down on some peoples priority list.  I encourage each of us to be faithful to the opportunities God has provided us to worship in His name.   Loyalty to Christ and His church enriches our lives as we prepare for that Sunday morning when we proclaim, "CHRIST THE LORD IS RISEN TODAY."

The journey to Resurrection morning will also be blessed by our resolve to take seriously who Jesus was, how He lived and His call upon our lives today.  I believe the greatest need of Christians is to come to understand what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.  I challenge each of us to read the Gospels, spend time reflecting upon the ministry of Christ and resolve to follow in His steps.

May you experience many blessings on the journey to Resurrection morning.
